you ever heard of a break in a contract?, some scum bags have pulled this card out the hat on me this week.... ' have a long weekend ( of course we're not paying you though!!! hehehe )......., come back next week'

i guess i'm cheap. i require 40% up front but then only charge 20% of the remaining amount as a kill fee

and...any research that needs to be done is padded into my design fee. i really don't like listing items like that since it really seems like nickel-and-diming, and i find myself continually researching even during design...so it's part of the process for me. i build that into my rates.

Are you talking about research before the contract was officially signed also?
- madirish0
yes seed, she is.
dude, charge for it. plain and simple. it is not your decision to say what you will get paid- that is the battle in and of itself.
look at it this way; when it all shakes out, it is your time lost, not theirs.

rand, I guess you've done it, how much did they charge you to revise it?
- OSFA0

(Jun 14 07, 10:32)no. i never charge for that. i'm talking about possible research that might occur during the project which would help me with my layouts or construction.
if they ask for something extra or new, then yes i might charge extra as a scoping fee. i'm careful about how i list that though.
