Anyone here into fishing? I've been going every day for the last 2 weeks. I've found it's a very relaxing thing to do after work.

Always loved fishing with my stepdad years and years ago when he and my mom lived in Boston.
We'd take a flat bottom john boat out to several diff. lakes, some you couldn't even have a motor on.
We'd also go deep sea fishing a couple times each summer, either for Cod about 3 hours out from Mass. or fishing for Blue Fish just off the coast of New Hampshire.
I'd love to start fishing at some point again, it's relaxing. There's just not much to catch in Lake Michigan that might not kill you.

oh yea...
my dad used to work on fishing boats when he was younger, so we are usually around the pacific coast.. I want to go up to Alaska and do some Halibut fishing up there... but it is ultra relaxing

mg if you charter a boat you can go a few miles out on michigan and get some serious shit that you could eat.

is this something that is only relaxing when you are alone?
some guy has been really begging me to go, i'm not sure i could handle it...

in my world, relaxing on the water means speedboats and bikinis

(Jun 13 07, 11:08)i can do that too... but believe me ...you don't want to see me in a bikini

i have to admit i'm a little wussed out by the fish hooks

i even had a plan to agree to go fishing, then resort to "distraction" so we never get to the fishing hooks part
:P

speedboats and bikinis. I can dig that.
Going with other people can be more fun especially if you bring a cooler of beer.
I've been going by myself a lot. I am the only person there. Near the water and surrounded by nature. It really mellows me out after a day of computer nerdery.

but in all honesty, i am always down for trying something new, even if i do wuss out, it would at least make it memorable... something to laugh at

oh, and i have always wanted to wear waders!

Always loved fishing. Been going since I was a kid. Can't do much of it in NYC, but go in Jersey all the time.

try fishing... not cheesy lake ffishing... pier fishing is ok for starters...
but being on a boat... nothing like it.
i remember when i was younger, i used to participate in fishing rodeos on piers..
..i one a fishing rod once... which was cool...
..for catching the smallest fish...
... a 6 oz Smelt!! (kinda like an anchovy)

well, do the great lakes count as cheesy?
it's rly the only choice we have unless i want to make it a weekend-long date... he is not yet worhty of that much of my time
