i saw the houses when i first saw it.
think i like it.the point on the top of the top house is too tall thou.

i don't think you should add more houses

it doesn't need more houses. Possible *slightly* narrower, but I think its communicating the feather. The warmer colors work better for that association.

Try flaring the bottom and tapering the top. Also bring in the roof over hangs a little. A feathers quill tip is angled so maybe taper the top chimney stack.

thx ldww. the point is just the stem part of the feather. i think it needs to be longer than the house doors.

damn good advice d_dot. thank u.

NP. I like the concept, should work out fine.

Agreed, perhaps a shift in scale. But I would change the house sizes as they progress rather than slanting them (if thats what was meant). Dont know until you see it. the mono weight stroke is working though to help unify and create consistency.
I would note the typography though, as well, not too strong there.

thanks letters. ya, i'll play around with the scale.
im actually more concerned w/ the icon at the moment. type comes later :)

i haven't read all replies...
but i'd flip the feather so it's recognizable, make it more feather like, and simplify with just 1 house at the bottom.
i know the lines in the feather run the other way and thats prolly why you got the feather upsdie down, but i think 1 house cropped into the bottom with lighter angled feather lines behind it at alt angles will read better. imo.
bah... probably not explaing well but i got a little doodle here and it works for me :)
just my 2 cents.

try reds and maybe ditch the heavy black triangle area below the doorway. i think that's causing some to see the pencil.

i see a birdhouse.

or fill the last house black and add one on top.. would look more like an eagle feather and eliminate that pencil thing.

thanks y'all. i'll post up some revisions later today.
abba, im not so sure about the curve, it sort of seems like the houses are about to fall over. it does make it look more like a feather though. thx

I saw the houses right away. It doesn't look like a feather at all to me...I'm seeing wheat...which relates, so maybe that isn't a bad thing.

try knocking the rooflines out so there are no eaves and every house is a seperate element that dovetails into the next. that would also elimate the need for black if you wanted to do a one color.
