Hello friends, I have finally made my new site active, I still need to add in artwork and photography, but have had this sitting waiting for a couple months.
Completely unrelated to putting it up today, but was just presented with a potential freelance opp. from a coworker, so I wanted to see if anyone found any glaring problems or issues.Comments and suggestions more than welcome. Thanks!
Oh, and yes I know the vertical padding in IE is f'd up.

don't like the light borders round the work. too much contrast, draws your eye away from the content.

i like it. better than that other site. ; )
(for you skt)

the red text on blue background is very difficult on the eyes

I agree, the color scheme is very rough, it makes some of your band posters blend into the background
so I guess create some contrast
..and also sunny day real estate is from seattle and to me your bio you makes it sound like they are british

do you need css help mg?
please change the bg color of your internal popup thing a diff color than black. maybe that blue?
feels narrow and tight to me maybe wider and more of a gap between each piece

I don't know...color scheme ain't working for me...

My opinion... Don't add artwork and photographs if this site is aimed at developing professional project. This is of course guessing that you are neither showing art or photography of a professional nature. I find too many freelance sites tend to show holiday photos, drawings and things that are totally irrelevant for the potential client.
As for the work section, it would be useful to see some client work as opposed to only work for your band.
2 cents. :)

sorry, just realizing that I was assuming this was for developing clients as it is showcasing work – maybe I'm off on that?

agree with skt about borders
nice work therein

Thanks for the tips guys, keep them coming. Lots of good stuff to think about.
letters2 - I won't have personal photos on there, I keep those somewhere else. Not fully sure exactly what kind I will have.
version5 - I just changed it, def. looks better now.

I think the site is pretty handsome, overall.
I would tone the bright white stroke down some, and maybe narrow it. Maybe from #ffffff to more of a #aaaaaa? Also the red is too similar in value to the ground, so it vibrates. Either lighten it or darken it.
Also I'd add some navigation so you can ditch all that scrolling on the first page. It would be nice to see one sample at a time, on the screen, without the other little bastards sneeking in from the bottom. Seperate page for each sample will make it stronger, IMHO.

skt thoughts are pretty spot on, some of the posters look like spec work (but i'm sure they are not) and are a little blurry.
overall, is there a way you could make the design less flat? somehow hint at dimension.
the work is very nice, but somehow I don't think your design allows it to be apparent...

you forgot to the word 'beta' at the top, and to wipe the table w/ light oil before you took the shots of the work so to get that nice reflection....
j/k
i agree w/ v5 and skt. it is a bit narrow feeling visually and the white/black comments are true and distract.
but, to rip rand like i do regularly; nice work therein....

Definitely change the colours. Although I notice that you gravitate towards some specific colours (judging by your work and other stuff from knowing you here at NT), which is cool. It's good to bring that part of yourself into it. Just make sure people can read everything.
The site itself it nice and simple and the font choice is good. Not much else to say about a (kind of) one-pager.

Jaline:
Do you specifically mean the border colors or the entire site colors? One is easier than the other... I've changed the border color, I'm just too monochromatic sometimes!
And that font is Miso, which I think I use way too much now, but I love it. Whoever posted it in the PBS a while back should be thanked.

The red is hard to read on the blue.
I'm also using lightbox for my site, which will be ready soon.
- mg330
I'm going to blame any and all comments about the red and blue simply on poor monitor color calibration. :D
It pops out like a charm here!
But it's good to know... I hate the discrepencies between monitors and users.
- version30
the spacing between the pieces is too tight
the project info gets list in the bg
the big border is too much
reduce the border to a top line/ bar like the red dots
use some bolder bigger type for the titles
just ideas. :D

*gets lost
