Im considering upgrading to the grid (mt) but want to know if other peeps are still having problems with site accessibility and email.
is anyone still having problems or have you moved elsewhere?

I wanted to love MT, I tried, I really did.
I still have some sites on there but I had to move my critical sites off MT, and am so glad I did.
Coincidentally, on the weekend I had to go into my MT control panel and it took me 15minutes to log in.

where did you go Mick with yr critical sites?

I use dreamhost, and left (mt) also. At the time their only offering was $20 a month which is way too much for my small site. A month later they said " oh we have grid light" I transferred 4 of my clients off of mt to dreamhost.
I am super happy with dreamhost.

i havn't had any issues in while
cheapest way to run a rails site of any size for me
i would probly wait tho, if you had stuff that would cost you money if it was down for 10 minutes
although, i got one intranet site on there and they have never complained about it not working

whats the max_execution_time on dreamhost?

consistent problems.
main thng for me, email server in and out all the time.

I moved to a VPS so it's not really a comparison (but still much more reliable). Best advice I can give is to find out who you want to go with, then spend some time and read all the threads here - fairly honest experiences and reviews...

yeah i created an account with MT in january and was nothing but problems and headaches, down servers, delayed emails, etc etc. switched to dreamhost about 2 months ago and its been nothing but smooth sailing.

I think the problem with Mts Grid Server Tech, is that it is painfully slow.
particularly with mySql queries...
or maybe its just me, but I had a site on there, build with a CMS, and the amount of time it would take to load the first page, was just ridiculous
- material-10
honestly how many times do I need to see the same emails(or multiples of the same emails)?
- mrdobolina0
why bother?
- mbr0
The only reason I've stayed with them is that I have 100gbs for $20 month.
I haven't had a problem in, what, about 2 weeks now?
The old hosting they have (not on the grid) works fine.
- Momentum20
so if I'm going to do a lot of work with CMS... the grid was a bad idea?
how about godaddy?
- mimeartist0
Leave, leave now... I had a big client on it at the moment and it is stable now but painfully slow... so will be moving it shortly... hopefully to coincide with the new design.

thanks for the reponses, i still on the pre-grid system (SS) and the reason I ask is to see if the old problems had been resolved...looks like thats not happening tho.

On SS here. Haven't moved, won't move and next off I'm gonna go with a UK host. Dunno why just feel liking helping my own. Little like Sainsburys and it's "local food" :)

I switched to http://www.mosso.com for my client sites, but still hold a (dv) dedicated virtual server with mt, which is running great.
They're a good company at heart, and I've met some of the people that work there - they're genuinely smart and dedicated. I'm sure they'll sort any niggles out in time.

I dont feel the need to be too patriotic considering $2 = £1 !! but also cant risk being let down. Have you found a true UK host Dancer - most I have seen are just reselling services from bigger European providers
