I remember being disappointed with Photoshop (v. 3 or 4) when I first got it after having used Deluxe Paint for 5 or 6 years.
It seemed so hard to 'just draw things in pixels' - and where were the animation and colour-cycle facilities? lol

no layers, no history and only one command>z in Photoshop was fun as well...

My first experience was a zx81. 1k of memory but I was lucky I brought a 16k upgrade pack that pluged into the back was almost the same size as the computer. It had a dodgy DC lead so when you spent 3 hurs typing out your code and nudged it accidently it would turn off!! bugga!

I remember a trying to write a programme on the spectrum that would draw a circle on screen.
2 days and it didn't even bloody work.
Not like today! Now I spend 2 days doing something in flash and then that doesn't work either...

Oh yeah! None of your built in tape drives there! Loved the rubber keys on the zx, you really had to mash em in to type...

Oh yeah - I really can't fathom how my poor, addled, post-university stoner brain managed my first proper job with only one undo. And with Newspaper deadlines, to boot.
Either I used to be a lot better than I give myself credit, or I've just become really, really stupid.

This was my first computer:

Aside from the awesome carts, I remember using a tape deck to load programs into it.

when I was about 12, I took a week long winter-break basic course in a local high school. They couldn't teach me much. We had these http://www.old-computers.com/mus… but the older guys (14-15 yrs) were playing games on a ZX Spectrum. As if girls from our class weren't enough for them, suckers!

When I was about 9, all the rich kids had Mega Drives, I had a 20 yr old Comodor Vic 20.
Maybe I should make up for the sobriety of my youth and buy a PS3.

In elementary school, they introduced us to computers with Logowriter, where you had to move this little turtle in the middle of your screen with basic programming. Wasn't my cup of tea.
After that came the days of Oregon Trail. I always died of cholera.
