Instead of posting on here - get a pen & paper & write down a list of things you'd like to achieve in life.
if you can think of some- then you're ok - your just lazy, get of your ass & do some thing about it...
If you can't think of anything whatsoever - then I'd go & see someone about it.

milo has some good advice.
See if that works first.
I like to finish what I start. The problem is getting me to start it. But once I do, I will follow through. This works well for me in terms of school work. I just have to get into a certain mindset and force myself (by thinking of something to look forward to in the near future) to finish the project / assignment.

i dont know what i want... and when i start thinking of targets and things to achieve, i just end up questioning why i even want to because.. in the end, its all kinda pointless...

i mean what kind of help? what can anyone do?

it's all very far from pointless when you become a little less self involved.
take a trip to africa or india...or anywhere you get out of your daily rut/habits/thought processes. it will jar alot of things loose and hopeful allow you to gain perspective.
one thing i can tell you for sure is that it is not pointless.

would you mind starting a charity fund? we could even post it on digg, they love that kind of thing there

Sell one of your kidneys.

Self Mutilation is always a good way to start.

Jaline well said..
the whole starting things 'thing' is a real issue - the longer you leave it the more guilty you feel - guilt feels pretty shitty - naturally you start to attribute that shitty feeling to the 'thing' you're thinking about....
before you know it, you hate the job before you've even started it..
...thinking about things too much (instead of actually doing them) puts a right spanner in the works.. cut that & you're half way there...

i do have a total lack of confidence to tie in with my lack of drive too
you'd think knowing that alone could help heal yourself but its more like a cycle of wanting to do something, then doing something, not believing in it and no longer wanting to do it...

dude you've got to nip that lot in the bud for starters..
You're chatting to complete strangers about really personal stuff - which i think takes a lot of confidence.Sounds to me like you're in a bit of a rut...
Give yourself a break & follow linearch's advice, it doesn't have to asia! thats not the point, it could be anywhere or anything, even if it's just for the day or a weekend - just do something totally totally different..The longer you are in a rut the deeper it'll get... so do it this weekend.
take it easy.

Find a support system, be it friends, family, or professional help. You have to actively make the effort to try and find the answer(s) for your lack of drive and confidence. Only you know how to go about this.
It's never gonna be a quick fix, and it sounds like this is just a part of your personality. (I can relate.) Just keep working at it cacoe. You'll figure it out.

smoke less pot

I am talking to strangers and I'm fairly anonymous here and so are you so thats why it's so easy. I could appear with another name tomorrow and start with a clean slate (which I won't)
I have no money to travel (poor.. ex student looking for job)
my friends are unsympathetic and sceptical
I have never smoked pot

Put your efforts into something NEW that doesn't cost money. I think your missing the point on what others have said.
Don't be so negative. Get off the 'puter, go find that job, get new friends, go find love, do something for someone other than yourself. Get out of your comfort zones.
*ends pep talk.
