a soft drink hits the spot about once every few months

I drink quite a bit of diet soda, I can't drink coffee, it makes me real jittery. but I need some caffeine, I don't like cancer though. What's the soda with the splenda in it?

(May 17 07, 08:02)For me, it'd be once every few weeks. But I try to have the one that's the least worst. Like with fruityness in it or something.
I prefer Pepsi over Coke (just because I was more into it as a kid and loved the packaging as well as the NHL contests), but I could care less about choosing one or the other now.

diet coke was based off the new coke model. coke zero is a diet coke based on the flavor of classic.
- Jaline0
Yeah, Dobs, the only thing I drink that has some caffeine would be chocolate milk / hot chocolate.
Eh, I figure if I've lived without it for years now I can hang on ;)

If I drink a starbucks coffee, I will be like a crackhead for an hour and then will crash and burn big time after that.

the point that you're missing, dukie, is that aspartame and other-such artificial sweeteners are explicitly marketed as being healthier alternatives to sugar.
they also represent entirely unnecessary products which don't really have any valid function in society (other than fooling people into consuming more), an argument which it becoming increasingly hard to level at mobile phones (if you're a tech utopian, like me).
if you do a little research into the provenance of aspartame and if you think about it enough, it's hard not to come away disgusted by the rampant cynicism in the food pharma industries.

regardless..
Coca-Cola company SHOULD BE FUCKING DESTROYED because of their zero tv campaign.
With that and L'Oreal's moisturiser for men ads, I'm beginning to appreciate why the feminist movement loathed the cosmetic beauty industry for so long.

Nairn, is that a non-bio soap box you're standing on?
- dkmb0
Those L'Oreal's moisturiser for men adverts do my head in. wtf?! whose is fooled by that marketing bullshit? who?

I only wash my clothes with vinegar, tears and the sodden callouses which tear from my hands as i scrub and wring (they make for good abrasives).

*sets coke zero down*
what?
coke zero uses the same sweetener that's been in Diet Dr. Pepper for years. Remember their tagline, "tastes more like real dr. pepper"?
As to sweeteners being bad for you. Probably, but take a closer look at any food product that comes in a box. It's probably just as bad.
Hell, living is going to kill you anyway.

I heard Montain Dew gives you AIDS.

(May 17 07, 08:20)You don't really need a cell phone we lived fine without them for a number of years, you don't need a computer
you don't need a car
you don't need an IpodSometimes I need caffiene (I like coffee) but coke (like using a cell phone instead of a pay phone or home phone) is just more convienent
and I don't want to consume 900 calories in a single drink....so coke zero is my hero
