agree with rafalski, reminded me of El Pais straight off - I like the new ordered sections. good one.

well, put it this way, i saw this thread, went to the guardian site and have been there for over half an hour. i think it probably works okay.

Like it a lot.
Strong grid based layout. Clean and totally legible, information placed where is suposed to be.
I like the first 600 vertical pixels, with all the main news there and then the rest of the articles. The only thing i don't like is the navbar under the logo. Didn't worked properly on the past edition, don't work today.
Anyway, I'm waiting for an article on it by this guy:

As someone who visits the site every day, I also think it's a great improvement.
Looks to be heavily influenced by the Times' recent relaunch, though:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk - there's not all that much that separates the two any more (from a design perspective, at least).

http://www.newyorker.com is a real beauty. The Guardian is honest but a little plain.

it's what i'd expect from the guardian

if i'm not mistaken the guy behind the design had was paid heavily to redesign our Publico newspaper (paper + web).
and i have 2 remarks. not only he killed the old characteristic feeling of the original design in the paper version (which was much better than this lollypop version) - as he also didn't put many effort into the web version.

I like it, I've really liked the arts blog for a while now and have been waiting for them to update the main site in kind.
Hope they get the subsections sorted soon - always disappoints me when a new homepage turns up for something I like and the rest isn't done yet

it's ok, good for the amount of content, they could've done something a bit nicer with the navigation at the top, seems a bit too light... Hard to maintain, but a stronger horizontal grid structure would make it a bit easier to digest...

looks like English papers are following the iht design (http://www.iht.com/).
Another really good example of a this type of publication is The First Post (http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk), although this one have a lot less content (so it's easier to design...)

I like it, their design teams outstanding, they got a handful of entries in the CR annual this year.

i think it looks great.
love the use of lots of whitespace and i certainly dont mind that it scrolls on and on cos of this whitespace.

I like that bit at the bottom.

the asparagus tips spilling over the top lip of their container has given me a semi.
- kelpie0
me too. asparagus has aphrodisiac qualities does it not? like pecan nuts and honey?
