Sarkozy is a very bad news indeed. He will not stop the riots: he had all the power to do it in the last 5 years as he was ministry of interior. Instead he is the one triggering it. Plus he has been voting laws to extend French DNA database ... for instance two kids (8 & 11 years old) who stole a toy in a supermarket some weeks ago will have their DNA taken. He is the one who said mankind is genetically conditioned and criminals can be detected since birth. His friends own most of the French media and ask him for advice when hiring journalists. He also threatened some national tv employees to fire them when he will be president. He has an oversized ego and will help his rich friends and himself before thinking of the people. He is Bush best friend in Europe...

They're also environmentalists. If you park your suv in Paris, don't be surprised if its tires get cut. Nice.
Next time somebody tries to give me cancer by smoking cigarettes next to me, I will cut his (or her, mind teh égalité) throat!!
:))))

Segolene said there would be riots if Sarko wins. Looks like she kept her promise.
Does she feel responsible for fueling these? She offered increased social spendings and subsidizing business. When asked where she'd get the money for that from, she said she'd rise wealth tax, but never gave any calculations.
Reagan quote comes to mind:
"Socialist view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it"I still believe she should've won and be given an opportunity to ruin France, as an economy lesson for her followers.

(May 7 07, 05:34)wtf @ reagan?
that dude was one of the most fiscally irresponsible presidents the u.s. ever had.
we needed a technological revolution (the dot com boom) just to get out of the debt he rang up.
taxes are a social issue, not a fiscal one.
how do you think bush went on his orgy of debt spending?
...this county is quite literaly broke.
as it stands, forty years from now all we'll be able to pay is the intrest on our debt.
b-b-b lower taxes!

Nice photos in your site Rafal...
...And not sharing all your thinkings but understanding the "point".

i see your point, rafalski.
but i have a bit of trouble generalizing a side as a whole, like all socialists or all neo-liberals and what not.
for instance here in NL the socialist have made their shift towards a more responsible calculated regulation of spendings.
Everyone learns from their mistakes.
In that respect i wasn't opposed to Royal. I'd given her that chance..
