Steve Jobs should know better. >:/

(May 2 07, 14:40)I'd be far from telling Jobs how to do his job :) I think the common reaction to greenpeace site was "wow, apple will be green soon" rather than a purely negative one, even if the first reaction was a shock.
Besides, can any of you _sincerely_ tell you didn't buy apple equipment because of green issues?

no, I didnt buy apple products because they are a ripoff ;)

for the price... they should rename themselves to Crapple.
Don't get me wrong... they have pretty stuff and the iPod rocks...
... but I just built a computer and saved nearly $4k in comparison for BETTER parts.
... yes... $4k.
... like we really need anymore iSheep.

I understand people like mac's, that is dope, they are great. but they aren't really superior.
If the tables turned, do you think there wouldn't be any virus shit going on the mac side? Pleeeezbuleeev there would be.
Was there a huge uproar from pc users when apple went to intel chips? Those users didn't give a fuck.
Tell me that you wouldnt hear about it if the pc suddenly began using the chips that apple had been using for eons.
be for real. the company is not any better than dell/microsoft hp/microsoft or any of that. They just are extremely good at marketing.

Crouwel,
outside this apple foray, i want to wish you the best of wishes to your goals' end in sight and to those mental exercises allowing you to achieve them. this is a wonderful thing.

i will also say they apple 'machine' as a whole is a better 'experience' than any PC i have personally ever used.
they are pretty.
they feel good.
the peripherals do not obstruct my flow.
the connectivity is seamless to anything i want to do.
the color palette and design of their mechanicals are superior.
totally personal take, but those qualities do count to me in a device (computers or other) that i use for this amount of time of my waking life.

again, dope.
you like mac's a lot, nothing wrong, but they aren't superior.

i'm surprised nobody has read this yet, because i posted it a while ago after seeing all those threads in the pbs. this is more a pr move by apple in response to the baseless claims greenpeace made awhile ago to drum up outrage in the blogosphere. you can read about it here: http://www.roughlydrafted.com/RD…
i'm all for corporate environmental responsibility, but i'm also in favor of ethical responsibility, especially from an organization such as greenpeace that postures itself as some type of authority.

(May 2 07, 15:52)sometimes, I mean everyday I wish Apple ripped some of windows usability too. I like my mac at home, but when I come to work on the windows machine in the morning I just can't force myself to hate it :)
room for windows-ripping improvement:
- resizing windows by all corners and edges rather than one fucking corner
- assigning default programs to file extensions rather than particular files (once you save a jpg in mac photoshop, it doesn't open in preview by default anymore wtf)
- mouse wheel in flash
- cut+paste in finder
- mounting video iPod in less than 40 seconds would be nice (it's insane, my windows machine needs only about 4 secs to do that)
- displaying latin extended fonts in browsers properly, ie the CE ones
- and so on..
- BonSeff0
did you dl that bluebird dobs?

(May 2 07, 16:11)i agree completely. apple is a highly publicized company and easy target.

how was the trip, mang?!?
- mrdobolina0
Get Apple to do it and then watch other companies follow suit to keep up with the market. Make conservation part of your marketing.
I remember when I was a kid, people would just let their dog shit on anyone's lawn when they were on a walk and not pick it up. Nowadays, everyone from beverly hills to steven's point, wisconsin picks up their dog's shit when they walk their dog.
I see not much difference in caring about global warming or any ill effects of toxic substances and the environment.
