I'm completly fed up with my current job ; 55hrs/week (for a 35contract), can't sleep or enjoy any day off because of the stress... after 3years I can't keep living that way.. even though about finding any other job (I mean no more grahpic design thing)...
Should I quit and search for a better place? Or Start freelancing? Knowing I haven't got any client list nor job offer?
:(

Yes, quit.

Yes.
By that I mean - get your shit together - a freelance gig, another job, whatever - at the very least save up for another month then just do it, but yes, quit.
It's your life - it's their job.

Oh, I see now why you've even bothered asking - you're French.
This is the wonder of the Anglo-Saxon business model - a job needn't be for life - you, the consumer, are king.

Hey - you've got a good portfolio - come to London and take one of my fellow countrymen's jobs...

Your work is great. Quit. Get a better job or go freelance.
*shrugs shoulders in a gallic manner.

"Oh, I see now why you've even bothered asking - you're French."
I don't feel guilty, it's more about taking the risk to quit a place -even a bad one-, to something new. and taking the risk to find nothing or something worse.
But I guess that's quite french :)

(May 2 07, 04:53)Bullshit, welcome to the world of the sucker.
If something can't be done in normal office hours, then you shouldn't be working extra all the time. Every now and again is ok but people who do it regularly are making a rod for their own backs.

if i knew some connection in France, i would try to get you a job; i like your design aesthetic a lot and the fact you designed an identity/logomark for your dog seals the deal.
not telling you to quit, but definitly stand up and tell them you will be leaving, without vengence, if your schedule is not adjusted, or the compensation not raised. just my opinion...

stress is a state of mind, not a day of work.

-----I do agree, im out of the office everyday at 5.30 and if there IS work to be done, id rather do it at home than at work anyways.
It would be a joke to do those sort of hours day in day out. but i have to admit that even though im not "working", sometimes you (whether you like it or not) are subconsiously thinking about some things about work or ideas/projects/inspiration.
Designers on the whole are usually living breathing sleeping dreaming design.

It just chaffs me off that people think becuase it's "creative" that being in an office 14 hours a day isn't a big hassle.
There's always going to be more work needs doing but you wouldn't expect someone in a call centre to keep on working for free because there's more calls in the queue. ..

quit!
always quit!
that is the great imperative.
so as not to feel time's
horrible burden, one which breaks your shoulders and bows you down,
you must quit without cease!
- skt0
Charles Baudelaire quit completely at the age of 46.

On the flipside, I've particularly never had any respect for people who proudly proclaim to be 'out of the office everyday at 5.30'.
- paraselene0
respect is overrated.
- Nairn0
my flavour of respect especially.
