Can anyone recommend any nice portable USB 2.0 hard drives? Sort of like the FireLite - just missed out on a 120GB on eBay for $65 :( Looking for 120GB+
Thanks.

Oh yeah, and I don't want to have to connect it to mains power either.

And I'm cheap.

hard drives are not something you want to be cheap on

(Apr 30 07, 18:19)you know this wastes your comps power right?
most comps don't come over powered, so you'll suffer performance issues using this method
but whatever, you're cheap as i've read

Yeah but I keep my power adapter attached to my MacBook all the time anyway. Did it with my Powerbook too, never had any problems.
I don't leave the house, I'm a shut in. All I need is my MacBook, a pair of binoculars and a borrowed wheelchair so I can feel all 'Hitchcock'.

Anyway, I think this is the winner:

no matter your self justification, the power supply running your comp only outputs so much power if something else (ie a usb2 drive) requires power, it just doesn't come from thin air, it's taking away power from your comp. this is even true in desktop models
all that will happen on your notebook is the drive will kill your battery faster than without it and if it's always plugged into the wall, apparently a lack of electricity isn't your reason for wanting to power it from the comp
build your own external from a case and a 3.5" drive from newegg, more reliable and cost efficient
