i find this incredibly fucking weird. my boss, everyone calls him by his first name. everyonec alls everyone by their first name. you know, like you'd expect.
but we the vice president of the company wants everyone to call him Mr. (lastname-here). its crazy fucknig awkward. wtf.

If anyone ever told me to address them as Mister and were not joking, I would laugh in their face.
I use Mr. LastName, sometimes just to switch it up when I am talking with people though. You know, so they do not get used to:
Idiot
Fuckface
Moron
Bag of Sticks
Et cetera...

either he has some self esteem issue or he's just fucking around while keeping a straight face.

abide by his rule but use a spanglish accent and call him Meeester (blank).

i had an instructor in school who on the first day said, word-for-word, "Please address me as Michelle. If you address me as Mrs. Smith I'm going to thing my fucking mother-in-law is standing behind me."
- jox0

I know, call him Mr. someotherlastname, excuse yourself by explaining that it's difficult for u to remember last names. Have everybody else do the same.

the design industry tends to be more casual in things, imo.
it shows in this thread, haha.

canuck
(Apr 27 07, 10:12)I think it should definitely be kept in elementary --> high school.
There's a reason why it's changed to a more casual thing after high school. People are supposed to be more respectful of each other or at the same level, rather than younger people only being respectful to people older than them. Kind of like an unspoken rule.
It definitely feels weird to me when someone calls me "young lady", "woman", and "lady", let alone "Ms." or "Ma'am".
- jox0
How about madame?
- canuck0
My friend teachers, but he has a fucked up last name so they just call him Mr. C.
- Jaline0
haha, yeah right.
- canuck0
ha. you can now see why I don't teach.
