hey, so, I am quitting smoking. I am on day 5, and I am absolutely miserable. I feel totally depressed and I dont know what to do with myself. I feel like if tomorrow is the same way, I am not going to be able to fight it, and I will be stopping at the gas station to buy a nice pack of parliments. So, my question to you is, how do you fight the depressing feeling that sweeps over you. Is there some herbal remedy? st johns wort or something? Geesh, I feel awful.

replace one addiction with another. everything you feel like smoking, do some cocaine.
- floater0
you hit it on the head when you asked about herbal remedies...
...smoke more weed!

seriously though, i don't know a thing about such things. i've never been able to quit a single bad habit in my life -- including being a total asshole.

Hey man - I used to smoke 2 packs of Newporta a day so I totally relate to your situation. It is tough as hell. I started using the patch - it was a big help, but then found these awesome cinnaom flavor tooth picks - helped the oral fixation and those buggers are potent as hell so they keep you goin.!

bucker up, it goes away after a few days. i haven't smoked in nearly ten years. just do it. no excuses. no ifs, and no butts (especially).
the depression usually goes away after a week or so. much better dealing with that than the alternative.
good luck.

start exercising: riding a bike, jogging, whatever. you'll feel a lot better.

i know people who have quit and they use the gum. seems to work pretty well for them. but yes they did become addicted to that as well. or yeah smoke weed!

it's pretty cool to see your progress, that is if you really keep it up.

Popcorn!
A bag of popcorn always cheered me up.
Oh, and lots of gum chewing and carrot sticks - that's coming from an ex-smoker who successfully kicked that sick twisted but oh so lovable habit.

Yeah, exercise. Get that blood moving to clear the gunk out of your lungs. Plus exercise is a great way to fight depression AND you'll sleep better. And you'll look better too and then the ladies will be nicer to you.
Even if it's just like 30 pushups and 100 situps before bed time. And beware of getting drunk, you'll be lighting up before you can say "heineken'.

In a month (if you can hold), when you feel more healthy, trust me, you forgot the depresions...
Spring is a nice time to let smoking. Animo!
