Yeah, I'd just say it's unoriginal and is not executed nearly as well. However, I've seen similar navigation used on several other sites.

Very similar, but it's a simple idea.

at the same time, when you open the portfolio and mouseover a piece, both have "+" signs to indicate that you can open up to a larger view.
and the images open up to a larger view in the same way, with the line even blinking.
Which means that it probably is a rip.
The ripper has horrible image quality in the portfolio.

yeah, OSFA, it's hard to move to another tab in FF because of the vector flowy thing. you have to double-click outside of the browser or something...

I'm fairly sure i've seen that nav as a downloadable fla somewhere.
They might well both just be using someone elses engine.
