looking for the font website that is black and yellow. I can't remember the damn site name.
It allows you to view previews at 198 px or something like that.
Thanks!

Install this...

Got an iTunes style font store built in and it manages your font library like a dream, and it's free.

But mono - if he's looking for samples of various typefaces from various foundries, that won't cut it. The FontExplorer store only carries Linotype fonts. It's like iTunes if the Music Store only sold BMG songs.

This one?

Yes, get it. I can vouch for the cross-references. I wrote them myself.

(Apr 11 07, 15:55)Yeppers. that's the one. i'm still reading Bringhursts book and Stop Stealing Sheep. I really like liked Ellen Lupton's Thinking with Type and how it provided 'live' examples within the text.
So when the time comes, this will be a welcome addition to my library. Good to 'know' someone that has their hands in it. I know where my money is going to (hopefully more stuff like it).

lol might not makes for as good a read as "stop stealing sheep" with it being a type spcimen book and all :)
2 for typographica:
- whats your job spec at fontfont?
-Ive flicked thru the big yellow book a couple of times, and i remember talking to Eric Spiekermann for a bit after a little lecture he did and he was really hyped up about it coming out - but i still havent figured out what i can get from the book that i cant get from ur webby... care to shed a light? ;) :)
- Typographica0
1 Yeah, Jay, it's more of a reference book. Something to have at your desk any time you need to spec type.
2 I am Type Director for FSI. Many advantages to FontBook over any website:
a - Most type is best tested in print. Especially if you plan to PRINT with it.
b - Cross-refs. Rather than ask me here on PVN what font is similar to X, you can find it in FontBook. Think of it as your own personal mini-Typographica.
c - Quick. It's often easier to browse through paper pages than web pages.
d - More historical info. A lot of the dates and credits aren't yet on the site. We'll get it all up there soon, but FontBook is the most commprehensive source for now.

Typographica do you dream about fonts? Have you ever dreamed you were a font? If so which one?
- Typographica0
I dream about a lot of things, but never fonts. This is a good thing. Too many of my awake hours are filled with fonts.

i once dreamed i was Giza Nine Five, and no one liked me cause i was big and fat, besides non format but i told them to eff off cause they already have a harem of BBW fonts and i wasnt gonna be down like that..
then i woke up, got up looked in the mirror in disgust and purged all fat fonts from my pc..
woke up the morning after to find my desk scrawled with the words "im not FAT .. im beautiful" written in PVA glue..
*grumbles ....stupid fonts
