I remember when TV was educational and there was no trash content and not everything revolved around outer image and selfish behaviour.
I remember reading history about a time when humanity meant to become better in pursue of a better future.
Are we member of NT doing what we can for a better tomorrow?A beautiful video of the late Carl Sagan will remind you where we come from and inspire you with ideas.

Let's make a deal, The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game, Love Connection, Star Search and tons more were all the precursor to this stuff we see today on television.
How long has the show COPS been on? Like as long as the Simpson's or some shit.
The problem today is the marketing. Everyone thinks they are a superstar and above things, installing this artificial 'standard of living' that they are accustomed to, but don't really need.
America has a diva complex.
Thanks for posting up the link.

What about Eastenders? It's been forever and everybody is soooo depressed and miserable.
There's nothing interesting/real about TV other than the Documentaries section of SKY because even the news are manipulated.

Well, even with the news, it all comes down to what sells. Speaking as an American, this country is all about the almighty dollar. Doesn't matter what is the rigth thing to do, but how to make more money for yourself/company.
I find myself watching only PBS. What happened to the Learning Channel? All stupid reality shows. A&E......hahahahaha Dog the Bounty Hunter?

Wherever possible there must be independent confirmation of the facts.
Encourage substantive debate on the evidence by knowledgeable proponents of all points of view.
Arguments from authority carry little weight (in science there are no "authorities").
Spin more than one hypothesis - don't simply run with the first idea that caught your fancy.
Try not to get overly attached to a hypothesis just because it's yours.
Quantify, wherever possible.
If there is a chain of argument every link in the chain must work.
Occam's razor - if there are two hypotheses that explain the data equally well choose the simpler.
Ask whether the hypothesis can, at least in principle, be falsified (shown to be false by some unambiguous test). In other words, it is testable? Can others duplicate the experiment and get the same result?

When does the new simple life start?

Support PBS. There's good shows on that network NOVA, Independant Lens, Newshour, BBCWorld, etc.

AGREED MIMIO.

i agree pyeaton, pbs is pretty much all we watch these days. we haven't bothered w/cable in 4 years and if there's nothing redeeming on tv we actually do stuff.
A&E's in the crapper, as are many of these other channels.

"Occam's razor - if there are two hypotheses that explain the data equally well choose the simpler."
Well said.

I don't get PBS in Spain.
I survive thanks to Sky, and that's living the luxe life, in comparison to the actual mind-numbing spanish tv channels.
