there was something in the UK news about this a month or so ago.
they did tests on the 'awakeness' and 'alertness' of people who'd had coffees in the morning and people who hadnt.
the people who had coffee were no more awake or alert to those who had.
like a junkie, the ones that 'needed' their coffee in the mornings were only brought to their normal levels - and they needed the coffee to bring them to that level.its a drug man

i've worked in restaurants and nice cafes where I was spoiled with the espresso - Americanos and such.
Now I'm not quite satisfied until I get a strong espresso - the at home brew just isn't enough.

(Apr 9 07, 06:30)same here. at least until a few months ago. tamp it firmly yet gently, put it in the pavoni, wait for the pressure to get just right, ease the handle down and watch that magical espresso and crema drip into the cup.

haha. speaking of fist in the face i actually punched myself in the eye on accident this morning.
the alarm went off so i rolled over and hit the snooze and because it was so cold in the house i quickly tried to yank up the covers, my left hand slipped off and i socked myself in the eye. i was pretty much wide awake after that. haha.
