I have archive box after archive box of macusers, wallpaper, grafik, creative review, computer arts/projects, FHM's and Loaded mags from the 90's - present.
I know I'll never go through them while watching me Planet Earth DVDs in the background and cut out what I like from them. So... should I bring them down to the recycling dump or keep them incase I need extra insulating?
I'm also interested in what you hoard by the way?

photos - i think i miss the point of digital phtography & the whole paper free technology by constantly printing every half decent photo i take and coating every inch of my room with them (1000+ photos and counting)
Pens - they might not work but forreasons beyond by remit i cant seem to throw the fuckers away
Postitnotes + dust are also pretty promintent in my room alongside stray hairs :)

I can't stand clutter. I usually chuck out anything not in use. I would get rid of your magazines if I were you. Or donate them, maybe a highschool art class could use them who knows.

I always keep a bunch of stuff for years, and then one day...just throw most of it after realizing that I actually won't need any of it.
You're probably in the same situation.

absolute hoarder...
- clippings (in various attempts at organizations) from magazines and newspapers
- magazines, old (Flair) and new (ug... Lucky... why?)
- photographs
- notebooks (and lots of blank ones)
- any and all art supplies
- books, books, books
- clothes
- fabric (and I inherited some from my grandmother, so multiple generations)

Actually you should go through your magazines, and cut out relevant articles, interesting designs, etc and file them. Always good inspiration.
Chuck the remaining.

I have lots of magazines in particular, but I've managed to get rid of my old school stuff.
If you get rid of all those unimportant things you'll feel....somewhat relieved.

I tend to throw all that shit out every time I move, which lately has been about once a year.

Magazines here too.
3+ years of GQ and Details, just can't throw em out!
Also a couple years worth of Q Magazine and NME, lots of issues of other music magazines, snowboard magazines, local mags, quite a few design magazines.
I also have an insane amount of issues of The Onion. At least 1 1/2 years worth under my desk at work.
Somewhere I have every issue from the first year of Create@Online. Damn that was the best magazine!

print and id magazines going back to 2000 and about 150+ design/art/photography books.
i wouldn't throw all that stuff out. if you must part with it, at least put it on ebay. there's bound to be someone out there looking for past issues.

^ what john said is a good idea.
I would rather throw out old papers, random gadgets and crap though, not necessarily mags.
If you do, do what canuck said and look through them first.

Russian literature. I keep telling myself I'll read them, but it's been 10 years!
Oh and computer crap (old network cards, connectors, monitors, My Dell 800Mhz PIII. Computer junk all over the place!

old skateboard decks... i have few on the wall... but i have like 30 decks collecting dust under the bed... old camera equipment also... i have a killer polaroid collection... for some reason friends kept giving me their parents old polaroid cameras they'd find in the garage.
a couple old nikon f3's, some f4's... that i use to use before upgrading...
i also tried to save the retouch markups on all the entertainment collateral i've worked on the last couple years... some of that stuff is funny. "breasts look great! good job!" it's like getting a gold star in kindergarten.

I have no history, no fingerprints, no face to speak of, no emotions and unspecified genitalia.
I also don't hoard stuff.
