When I was a kid I lived in Prague for 3 years (my pop worked in the embassy there). Anyway, every three months we had to go on a regular trip to Germany (mainly to stock up on non-communist goods). But we got to do it in the official Embassy Landie (like Designerror's only the seventies model). I can still hear those wheels rumbling on the autobahn...
anyway, carry on.

Good god, that'd be like torture. The noise is just unbearable going anywhere north of 45 mph.

Oh yeah it was distinctive alright. I remember one trip it refused to stay in gear. My mum had to hold the gearlever in place all the way back on the Autobahns. I also remember my pop taking it into a German car park that wasn't quite tall enough. The car park came off worse.

One of the things I love most about this car while driving it, is the jealous look from guys in the yankee wannabe 4x4's.
No matter how big their chrome spinners are and loud the 58 speakers can play, a stock Defender is still 100 times cooler and 200 times better offroad.

defender is fucking king of jeeps.
i remember i used to wash cars from this govt. institution (Directorate General for Public Works and Water Management)
and i had to drive all those cars back and forth to their own carwash and i drove all thse vehicles like mitsubishi's and shit but they also had two yellow shiny defenders and when i finally got to wash them i arrived to pick them up only to find out that a guy was called to drive them for me. as they were too precious for them. :'(i still hate them for it!!!
ps. jox, it is lovely and you should slap a black QBN sticker on it!

smarties are better than m&ms
- ********0
i beg to differ, although i must admit i haven't tried smarties in a while.
- jox0
No, I agree - Smarties rule! m&ms have too much nut in them. It gets really old.
- ********0
but i like them nuts!

I have a LR Discovery and that thing is a beast off-road. I can't imagine how good a Defender must feel on the dirt.
Have Fun.
