As I've mentioned on here beforehand, Landies are the only vehicle I've got a real hard-on for - they're boxy, slow and old fashioned - but they're sexy-as, reliable - I wouldn't care about getting one scratched - they can pretty much run on any bio-fuel (with the minorest of mods) and would survive the [coming] apocalypse.
Kuz - I'm a country-boy - I grew up with these things around me (the really shitty, two-tone farm mules, not dapper, stealth versions like Jox's)

I don't know a whole lot about Defenders... you have to import them to Canada so they are few and far between. But I can tell you from experience that Disco's are horrible to maintain and cost an arm and a leg to do so. Their resale is probably one of the worse out of any vehicle on the road. On the flip side... they off-road like a son of bitch and pretty much climb walls. I had a 99 Disco when I lived in Whistler and had it up some pretty gnarly mountain logging roads. But when the time came to sell it 99 GMC Envoy's were going for about 5-6k more than my Disco. Pretty horrible considering there was probably a 25-30k price difference between the 2 vehicles when bought new.
