it's a certain reality of certain places and spaces, certainly... doesn't really bother me, as long as there is a sense of authenticism, or at least knowing that you could've come up with the idea originally...

At Concrete we used to start each project by openly discussing who/what we were going to rip off...

some words with nicely spaced ascenders are just asking for that kind of blocky treatment, ie
dublin

I was tacking a look at your site (great work by the way..you shouldn't have trouble looking for a job.. ) and the Dunhill logo looks pretty much like the The mill logo...don't you think???

(Apr 4 07, 02:32)haha, that's funny
except for the fact that I only re-drew the dunhill logo and that is predates the Mill by about 80 years.

I'm in the middle of a large amount of interviews at the moment and I've been shocked by certain things in the London design industry,
Some studios are rude to the point of making want to leave the interview. The arrogance astounds me sometimes. As if they would be doing you a huge by letting you work for them. I see jobs as a 2 way thing, you're both doing eachother a service.
One company I contacted and sent my details and website to offered me a placement! When I politely declined saying that I was a mid-weight designer, they said "well if you need a placement in the future" I imagine they hadn't even looked at the work.
Oh well, I've had some really positive ones too, people who seem like genuinely nice interesting people with no chips on their shoulders.
What a crazy business.

Shit happens...remind me the quark logo...
And you're right..the lack of awareness is unforgivable...
But..if they pay well....go for it.

didn't engage do the mill post production?
if in an interview situation i'd make a joke about it and see what they say...

So, there is an agency in London that has a decent looking site presenting pretty neat (I didn't say original) work and hasn't heard of the mill? OK..
I'm not sure who did the original logo but chances are we'll soon get to know this from people who did the site http://www.the-mill.com

want to work for a company who had (whether they realise it or not) ripped off a very famous design.
I was sent this company's site, and their project for a property called 'the mill' looks unmistakably like the very famous logo design for the Post production house with the same name.
The property version is worse and more obvious as it includes a bar over the top of the M. It immediately put me off going to see this company:http://www.icodesign.co.uk/themi…
original:
http://www.the-mill.com/index.ph…what worries me most is that a design company either hadn't seen the famous mill logo before (lack of design awareness) or even worse that they HAD seen it and decided to rip it off, badly.
I can't remember who desiged the original but I'm pretty sure it won awards, anyone remember who did it?
