"When did Britpop Officially Die - or - when did late 20somethings finally get tired of semi-angst-ridden pub music, realise they weren't bloody students anymore, that they had bought all the 'good' records that this half-assed mini-genre was ever going to spew out, and finally resign themselves to a slow death crawling up the IT/accounting/sales department ladder in the Brighton branch of a tedious multinational, occasionally cheating on their rapidly shriveling, over-shopping, similarly unhappy girlfriend/wife, who, ironically would claim CDs of such ilk in their tawdry and inevitable break-up, leaving them to scan the pages of iTunes to reamass the rather sparse collection of mediocre Glaston-durge which represents the last time they really felt vaguely happy or free."....

buy that and watch it. it has all the answers.
from your options i would chose b. britpop - even although, no one actually into that music would call it brit pop had been drying for a while in the run up to coldplay.
yellow was the start of a whole new thing that allowed shite bands to become stars on the basis of 1 single.

If you mean British Popular music, then it's still going...
Remember, all these 'names' are just abreviations, innit bab.
Indie, Britpop... pfft.

britpop was oasis/blur/pulp and all that hype and malarky.
was it kuz that wrote about angels by robbie williams, what he said is probably true lol.
but britpop is still going, the likes of The View and Razorlight are pumping out indie music with absolute POP hooks

May 31, 1998, Geri Halliwell announced her departure from the Spice Girls. Through her solicitor, Julian Turton, she issued the following statement: "Sadly I would like to confirm that I have left the Spice Girls. This is because of differences between us. I'm sure the group will continue to be successful and I wish them all the best."

hey that's good news!

razorlight are not britpop or indie. they are just rubbish.
the view are of a new scene, although still called indie, started by the strokes.

Good book on britpop, which provides a useful political context - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Last-Par…

Seriously though, I think it's still going on. There are various segments and fragments within Brit.pop. that have ended already, like what some of the posts above have mentioned. But there are other parts of it that are still going.

so where do bands like the Kooks fal linto place?
i thought the strokes, razorlight et al were pigeon holed as garage rock
