good miami hotels?

Anyone have any suggestions for my girlfriend and I for good Miami hotels on the beach and near nightlife, not requiring a car?
We're trying to get something together kind of last minute over the week of the 16th, since we decided not to take a free cruise that week (don't ask, long story).
We don't know much about Miami at all, but just want to go to the beach and be close to fun stuff, good eating, etc.
Any suggestions?

ocean drive or collins in south beach. usually i'm there on company dime and they put me in the shitty days inn. i've stayed at the shelbourne before, that's a nice place.

Depends on your budget, try The Lowes for pricey range or Catalina across the street for somethign cheaper. They are both on Colins Ave. right in the middle of the craziness

I stayed here a few months back:
http://www.thehotelofsouthbeach.…It was a pretty cool designed place. reasonable price. Rooms are kinda small but I think that's how all hotels are in that area. 1-2 blocks from beach, walk anywhere, no need for a car in South Beach.

Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone else?
mocaloca - the Cataline looks kind of cool, the white rooms are sort of interesting, but it looks in our price range.

delano
shore club
townhouse
setai
standard
four seasons
mandarin orientali'd probably do delano or shore club. it's got so much swanky beach feeling there. but that's only if i could get a good deal.

it really depends on your budget. the delano's a great place to stay but very pricey, as is the lowes (they might have good rates). there are also tons of smaller boutique hotels on washington ave which i think are charming. depends on what you want, too.

I stayed at this place.
It was UNBELIEVABLE. so nice
and they have a lovely area outside to have your breakfast. Their breakfast is delicious.

this one is pricey but awesome
the sagamore is a good option
this one is good also
and consider the shoreclub
the delano has more of that oldschool feeling and downstair is beautifull

and ill find out art shows open bars or anything worth checking out that weekend

Awesome, thanks CALLES.
Just looking to do a 4 night trip down there since we have that week off and originally had plans to be on a cruise that week. We've both never been to Miami and are trying to see more of the US this year.

give me your dates and ill figure out some shit for you. what kind of nightlife do you like... are you into the massive clubs or more quaint samll bars? i can also tell you some good restaurants from nice classy and pricey to amazing hidden spots. i live two block from lincoln and washington. and do yourself a favor and dont rent a car.. its flat rate from the airport to the beach (27$) and from then on you can walk anywhere or get a cab for a couple of bucks... the weather is amazing right now

CALLES,
We're looking at Sunday April 15th - Thursday April 18th.
We're into more quaint small bars, cool nightlife, good restaurants.
We love great restaurants, but would usually opt for more excellent less expensive places than fewer expensive ones.
I hate to stereotype South Beach and Miami, but all the stuff most people think of that they see on TV, f'ing supermodels galore, bottle service, mountains of coke in the VIP section, that's not really us. Places with good music are great and good mix of late 20s, early 30s, not too snobby normal laid back peoeple.
Thanks again for your tips!

shore club was nice... you get to sit by the pool on a big double bed... brilliant, watching the palm trees overhead

all I remember about my hotel room in south beach is that it was literally about a block off of Ocean Dr., $85/night, around 15x10, a bathroom the size of a closet, and I was there about 4 hours a day... oh, and I smoked out with some hot chick that looked like Jennifer Aniston that was on Spring Break from Michigan.

Know anything about a hotel called Aqua at 1530 Collins Ave?
- CALLES0
alright cool... then i have some excellent places for you... i actually help throw some cool laid back parties in the beach... the opposite of what you see on tv. we do some old hiphop funk 80's its a good balance and a lot of fun with all the skaters artist and just chill people. If you ask the people from the hotel they are going to send you to nikki beach or something like that.. it doesn't sound to me that thats what your looking for... sunday theres a cool party called Chocolate sundays my boy does it free pool laid back and very good music and theres the 5$ happy meal which consist of a shot of jagger and a high life =) hit me up and ill be your guide for this sorta shit
- CALLES0
