i dig the whole piece. no problems with the type.
the trailers in the lower right stick out too much for me, though. picturing it without them and it looks perfect.

definitely like the second one better. if you really want to include the trailers, you could maybe place them at the end of "double wide" above the "2007", scaling them down to the size of the "W."
- Chief0
or like you just did :)

BonSeff - Red Monroe has an asterisk...
Where's the text that the asterisk refers to? Is he hot stuff or something? Should there be referring text that says "hot stuff?"

in the email for the band list there is an asterisk. mine is not to ask why, but only to../

i do like it without the trailers. the extra black in the path of the twister works really well.
just a personal taste thing, really. either way it's really good. great concept and well done.

But it's not part of their name judging by the looks of their web site.Has anyone signed off on it yet or seen it? Could have just been a typo... that's the kind of stuff I'd ask about.

ok dude. im sure it will come out in the wash. good grief//
ima call you 'details' from now on

:D I'm not raggin' on ya, just saying. I guess it's the "no question is a dumb question" mentality that goes with my job and has saved my ass a few times.
I do like the poster, the tornado is cool and I'd keep the trailers if there's a way to. Tornado + trailers = a rockin' ride and that's what I'd hope a good night of bands would do :)

I agree with blaw, but at the same time the black space kind of bothers me because it feels like there's just a hole in the piece.
But the trailers are a bit distracting as well. Maybe just go for the smaller ones, like in the 3rd image you put forth.

i feel like i am looking through a screen on a stormy june 'ere in the midwest you ess ay..
as fer the black space near/above "The Double Wide", how about some scattered debris, or a rusty tire along kicked aside a rural road ?
anyway, i kinda dig the current direction. look -> to seeing its completion. good luck.

stop stealing sheep in there, its not helping the typography at all. If you're going to open up that much space, do it with some purpose. :)

Doesn't work in my opinion. I would start over completely :( sorry about that.

i gotta flip the band order and i'll tighten up the kerning. thanks for the feedback

I like it - though its a bit dark.
not sure I like the wee 'of the theatre fire' baselined against 'curtis heath' - personally, I'd try slinging it underneath 3/4 the way along, matching the 'seven pm april 13th, 2007' text under your main logo - that way you keep enough black space to allow for those 'trailers' (although I haven;t got a clue what they are / what they represent..
I'm also not keen on the 'T' in the main logo being dropped, I'd go with the 'H' (I just feel it starts on a 'downer':)

good points nairn
just to clarify, the venue is at a bar called the double wide - as in double wide trailer home. the bar area is actually a doublewide, with a tornado on the roof. It's very white trashy- gotta live in tornado alley to appreciate it i guess.
