Quick question.
Filing my taxes and had a question.
Turbo Tax says I'm at a bit of a risk because I'm filing my freelance shit (which was under 10k) and filed out the info for my home office and I made so much with my W-2 that the IRS could argue that I can't write off the home office or some shit.
Should I eat it and take all the home office shit off or leave it on?

NOT VALID TAX ADVICE
sorry, I lived with a lawyer roommate for a while so thats the disclaimer to what follows.
My accountant had no problem claiming any of my freelance costs even though I showed no income from it last year. If you got the paperwork to back it up and its all valid, I don't see why you shouldn't take advantage of tax breaks that the gov't gives us.

I found out I have to pay city business privelege tax on all of our earnings, not just in-town clients

i only worked full-time gig this year, no freelance, but i still claimed all of my expenses for my freelance home office and all that even though i made no income. showed a 5000 dollar loss for the year, ouch, but it really helped out my bottom line!

Jaline = daughter of the year.
... at least on NT. :)
Fuck... I wouldn't give EITHER of my parents a fucking dime. :D

I haven’t even thought about doing my taxes yet.
Mine are easy, and I usually get a nice chunk of change back.
The whole gambling thing is a grey area of course, heheh.

(Apr 10 07, 13:31)I bought a house and moved my parents into it 2500 miles away. Now they pay me rent. Its fun, when I go home i can say things like "when you live under my roof. . ."
Rand, my city has the same stupid rule. $150 a year.

if you're getting lots of money back, that means the guvment had your money and were exploiting it! i would rather owe owe owe, then i'll hole up on a hilltop with a shotgun and you just try to git my money!!

I had a dream about my father last night. He was delivering a lecture in a large loft space, saying that the artist periodically needs to shed everything he knows and become like an innocent newborn. The depth of his passion for art suddenly became real to me and I began weeping uncontollably.

I live at home without having to pay for rent or food, so I figure I could contribute once in a while.

I wish, ninja. Over 10k for me

yeah, might start a IRA or something to set it off. Didn't pay any quarterly this year so I'm bent over.

My dad took some classes at H&R Block and now he does everyone's taxes as a side job. Fun, fun.
At least I don't have to do them myself......for now.

(Apr 10 07, 13:36)Sweet sassy malassy!
Actually, I'll have to pay for all my freelance work taxes ON TOP OF the $150 I have to pay to the city every year so I can make money. Double charging sheisters. . .
. . . that is if I ever make any money. Lets give it up for shelters!
