I've been playing with scriptographer for a bit, it's really fun to use but I want to start writing my own scripts which will obviously take some java education. I've looked at some of the scripts and a few are quite basic:
at lot of these were done using scriptographer:
http://www.joshualeigh.co.uk/pag…I really want to get the 'faust' script that someone wrote to make this:
but he won't release it yet. Plus once it's released everyone will be able to create that effect and it won't be special. hence wanting to write my own.

it been around a while.. i kinda dropped it cause i feel cheecky not knowing how to write java...
using other speoples scripts for comercial reasons seems cheeky to me :(

oldelpaso, they are there to be used. each script can be applied in a gazillion ways. it is all about being creative, the scripts are merely tools.
it is like saying you do not want to use adobe software because you don't know how to code software..
pfffft..you are way to hard/difficult on yourself.

you reckon?
i think its cool they made it open source so you can code it and help it develop.. but i used it a couple of times and when ppl asked me if i developed the script myself.. i felt like such a dick saying i didnt..but i guess u have a point

oldelpaso i'm with you
i write code for myself and several others and laugh when i view peoples sources and see a bunch of table slices of wysiwyg crap
maybe using scriptographer could give you reasons to learn and want to write it, like any language, it gets easier the more you familiarize yourself with it

maybe when ive finished my degree, i can take some time learning Java..
is it hard?

like any other scripting language, start with the basics don't expect the glory on day one.
Day 10 will be much more exciting that way

anyway, isn't java a bit out of use these days? i only see it in major applications, like the IRS or other public services. around here at least.
