    hey,

I'm asked to shoot some products for a store, they say its gona be simple. Thing is, I'm not a pro photographer or anything, the job just came by chance.

how much should I charge for osmething like this?

    thx

"they say its gona be simple"

    you're doomed run away now...

    "It should be really easy"

    or

    "It shouldn't be that tough"

usually means we won't pay you much but we will put you through a ringer and we want high-end results... Oh and by the way we'll be bothering you for the next couple months with our crazy ass requests...

    but to answer your question...

factor in what you think your time is worth...

    whatis the client's actual expectation?
i.e multiple angles, all on seamless with a natural drop shadow, or in situ shots? Will they want basic retouch on the products? Will they need paths/silouettes for layouts? All of the above is totally billable...
If you have to buy anything to do the shoot bill them for that also...

I used to keep my photo shoot time seperate from my photoshop time.. Basically anything beyond cloning out dust and a basic color balance starts falling into retouch time... paths and any additional client requests become billable.

apply a day rate, without expenses (film, processing, drum scan).

You'll spend all of that day setting up, testing light, and what-not. Even if for 1 photo = charge a day.

Especially when doing digital, cuz then you have a client standing next to you, playing art director and creative director based on what he sees on the small display of your digi cam. And you will be doing shot after shot after shot, without end...
