a lot depends on your GF and what she "needs"...
i proposed on the spot with a small pink elastic band i found on the ground.

That's what I did sputnik but it wasn't my idea.
I can't remember who but a while ago someone here did that on the steps of a museum I think.
I proposed under a young tree in the park.

While she's sleeping tonight fashion together 2000 firecrackers and no less than 60 ladyfingers and 20 sparklers to form the words 'Will You Marry Me', and at about 3am light them off. She won't be able to say no.

a friend of mine was about to propose but didn't want the big ole traditional diamond, and couldn't really afford it. so he went to a local artist and had a silver ring made for her...looked rustic, hammered and beautiful. it was a unique and thoughtful way to go. i can't speak for all women, but most might want a symbol of the engagement so you can always find less expensive alternatives.

not to judge, but please do not buy a diamond. unless you are 110% sure you know where it is from and those it has touched.

my husband proposed in the most spontaneous way. privately, not contrived and very natural and very "us".
everyone has their style. some ppl propose in public, in front of family, in grandiose ways...it all depends on your particular groove akoni!
