radar, so glad this thread came up...
my dad just moved to the charlotte area and i want to visit him soon. i need good restaurants, no chains, but local faves.
i prefer to eat healthy, but my dad loves steak, so anyplace that has green salads, i'm fine.
any cool, eclectic places you'd recommend?

If you want to see the America's unhealthiest citizens walk into a Culver's sometime. It's rivals 80's era Ponderosa or OCB.

Yeah there are alot - do you know the area he lives in?
I live in one of the art districts called NODA and we have DISH (southern fusion), Penguin, Cabo Fish Taco, Addies, Boudreaux.
In Uptown a few miles away I would recommend Mimosa Grill, Town, Latorre's, Blue.
For steak Morton's or Ruth's Chris - also 2 classic steak houses more on the fritz of town are Beef & Bottle and the Ranch House.

for mexican I would recommend Cantina, 1900 Mexican Grill & one I said before Cabo Fish Taco, they have more than fish tacos, but damn they are good.
And we have a dive spot we go every Sunday called El Cancun where you can order by the number, it helps you get a good night sleep.
