So we should take the name to be literal?

out of those i fancy the fourth one.. any chance of integrating the 't' with the clouds? or maybe spacing the clouds a bit from the t.. at the moment its awkwardly close :)
re: the first one, have you tried getting the arrow to flow off the 'e' cause making it flow off the 'd' seems to cut up the 'e'

I like the 4th one. The clouds add a nice touch and theres a lot you can do with them. The arrow on the first one looks awkward and the 4th one looks like an airline company.

The first one is the most memorable. I like how it flows, and would create an interesting shape in black and white. I wonder what it would look like with "visual" being in the orange color too.

2nd one.. eastern flower shape, garden of eden, shabing shaboom.
arrow and sunset, looks way too airline with the font you're using.

(Mar 11 07, 16:55)Hmm...I agree, but the logo as a whole may be awkwardly uneven.
I like the 2nd and 3rd one. The second because it's simple, yet slightly warped, and the third one because of the sun/circle and the arrow/bird going east.
The fourth is okay, but if you were to use it I think you would have to modify it somewhat.
The fifth reminds me of an airline company (I don't know if that's the one Propaganda was talking about).

"visual design" doesn't "sound music".

i mean that it's a pleonasm you might want to avoid. also (if it's a gig for yourself and not a client) i would consider wasting some time finding other name options, since "edeneast" sounds like hedonist, which has a negative connotation. to make people read eden-east you need to unbalance the logo either by using different colours or using 2 typefaces, which is never a good choice since you're stuck with pre-fabs instead of a solid-drawn form.

got it!!!
"Pleonasm is the use of more words (or even word-parts) than necessary to express an idea clearly...like "safe haven" and "tuna fish" in English"
witt did u run ur post through thesaurus?
*its how i wrote my thesis!

I wouldn't be surprised if Witt knew that off the top of his head.

The first one is your money shot.
Get it?

Seems there's an even split over what people like. :) I'll revise them some and see what happens.
As for the hedonistic name, I chose it because it brings some images to mind (garden of eden, eastern flavor, religious icons, etc).
If it makes clients think I'm a lazy freelancer, well.. :)Thx for the feedback!

nah..
theres something V. airline about it still.. (as in we do excursions to asian paradises)
theres so much potential for the palette.. and u let it slide wih those colours.. :(
there is something quite bizarre happening with the letter spacing ... maybe tighten them up slightly..
little touches as well like putting the area code in brackets...
'visual design' as an expression/profession is quite bizarre
if ur dead set on doing with the swoosh - try making it fly off the E
also have you tried putting the lower thing somewhere else?? like on top of eden east as opposed to infront? it seems to unbalance the composition.. its like a heavy weight at the end.. if you center it on top.. it might add a bit more stability..
just a few pointers
- oldelpaso0
also just saw ur flickr account - there SO much potential in the illustrations u use (ie the baby) and typography - that these business card logos seem drab in comparison.. :(
i would definetly hit the business cards with the same attitue that u do ur illustrations (it would also market you as a designer/illustrator much more consistently and thus raising ur profile)

thx paso, good points.
by 'heavy thing' do you mean the flower shape?Visual Design is pretty generic i guess
- adriandd0
i was aiming for something a little more toned down to just get the info across and not overpower any design/illo work to follow it, but thx, will think it over
