Unless you are married you are shit out of luck. Best you could do is come over for a bit on a tourist visa and try to nail down a job offer that will sort out all the immigration nightmares for you.

I'm in Boston for a couple of years (studying), but I think there is some form of visa acceptable for 'dependents' of students (i.e. husbands). Don't think you would work legally though.

Okay dude. You have two options. 1 get married in the US then apply for green card status. 2 come to the states get a job and apply for an H1B visa. If you love the girl then I would recommend number 1. H1B sucks because it lasts for 3 years and you can only work for that company that is sponsoring you!!! if you hate the job then tough shit or you will have to apply for another H1B. Both visa applications take 6 to 8 months and requires plenty of paperwork. However when you are applying for the greencard they will give you a one year visa to stay in the states. Either way you will have to come to the states and get yourself an immigration lawyer and they aren't cheap either. Prices vary between $2000-$5000. You might get lucky and get a signing bonus and your boss could pay for your lawyers fees. I'm presumming the girl is American? I live in Philly. If you want I can send you some immigration lawyers numbers, design firms etc etc. In all seriousness I would think long and hard if this girl is worth it. Its a huge sacrifice to leave England.....trust me I know!! Let me know if you need any help and I can point you in the right direction.

Don't know much about the details and the visa issues, but being from Philly.. I can tell you good places to eat, live, shop and hang out...

Not easy. I got a B1 Visa to come out (also chasing a girl) but it is only good for 6 months. Also, I am not working for a US company, but working remotely for a UK agency and still pay UK taxes.
If I want to stay I will need to find a company out here willing to sponsor me for an H1-B visa. But having recently been speaking to a manager at a big agency here in NYC i've been told there is a big talent shortage at the moment and a lot of companies willing to take on foreigners.
If you are good at what you do, and there is a similar market in Philly then it's far from impossible. You will be in a far better position if you come out (perhaps just for a holiday) and speak to the agencies you are interested in, in person.
