I saw them live at Shepherds Bush supporting Bright Eyes.

it sounds like its on the verge of being overproduced, but i don't think it quite goes over the top considering the foundations this band has laid for itself.
i like it. i think its better than their last album. and i like their new single.

Moon and Antarctica is my favorite Modest Mouse album. Since then it's been a tug-of-war with their sounds and with this album it seems like the weaker sound is winning and slowing them down.
It definitely sounds like Modest Mouse was trying to sound like Modest Mouse. When that happened to The Pixies, they just stopped. Don't know if that's a good thing or not.

jumped the shark after moon and antartica. Lonesome Crowded West however goes down as one of the all time best albums ever recorded.

yeah, downloaded it from iTunes yesterday. personally, i think the moon and antarctica is their best, mos def in my top 10 favorite albums. i can listen to it over and over and over. i liked good news..., not saying it's as good but it's still good. after two listens to the newest, i like it.

I'm the same as you studderine.
They are still a good band, but there is no substitute for the days of the three-piece Modest Mouse a la Lonesome Crowded West, This Is A Long Drive..., etc.
Pretty much the soundtrack for a great many nights spent in my college architecture studio building models and doing drawings.
