anyone got any examples of a really well written simple page with just text and image with solid code, all xhtml/css. I need a simple basis to start writing a page.

It's about as clean and simple as they come. I really like it. Dunno if it's what you mean though.

basically, I've designed a page in xhtml/css and it works fine on firefox/safari on a mac but the css doesn't see to work on internet explorer on either a mac or pc.
The page is very simple and just features an image with a title and a caption.
I'm looking for a page that works on all browsers so I can base my page around that, so I know the code is all good. I don't think I've been writing perfectly clean code.

you'll need a hack probably to get it working in ie. shouldn't be hard to find

If it's valid xhtml/css then it should look roughly the same across the main browsers and only need some small hackery to work in IE.
Might be worth posting it up so people can check it out?>

the one I posted works fine in i.e. stole some of moths code it start with but had to fix it as he is a bit of a hack. you are welcome to do what you wish with it.

thanks skt, your page does indeed view the same in IE. I'll borrow a bit of your code. I basically need what you have there, except without the nav and for only 1 image, rather than lots.
cheers for that. i'm gradually getting the hang of this web stuff, thanks to all the helpful nters out there.
