did you get the flat in holloway, nairn?
we just got a one bed in spitalfields. i don't like to say how much we're paying...
not much more than we would if we each had a room in a flatshare, though.
them's the breaks!

I'm hoping so - we're supposed to be moving this weekend, but was told last night at 4.30 that my prospective new landlord took objection to my magic mushroom selling past in my reference check (apparently the building's owned by a pharma company and didn't want the 'association' - wtf?) so I've spent the last 18 hours stressing about the situation, but have just been told they've back-tracked a little (after my very eloquent (if I do say so myself) counter argument about the immorality of their thinking, the potential legal quagmire they were wading into and my general decency as a human being), so once more in my life I'm pretending to be a proper designer with a proper job and prospects and stuff (rather than a dreamer with multiple aborted business ideas).
Anyways, fingers crossed, otherwise I and my large, pointless collection of stuff are going to be oiked out onto the street on Monday.

think the gf used gumtree or something like that, found an alright place in shoreditch/hoxton for pretty cheap!

Oh, para! No, I didn't get that doozie of a flat, I'm afraid. It went a little beyond the budget we'd set ourselves and that estate agent didn't bargain properly, 'cos I reckon we could've got it (I feel, anyway).
No, instead, I'm [hopefully] moving about 200 metres that way *points beyond kitchen* to a generic modern building. Easy move and 6 month contract though, so maybe next time I can get it right (maybe next time I can justify splashing out on a work/live studio place... *dreams up another abortive business idea*

dang! bummer. hopefully the new flat will be good, anyway.
we were trying for live/work for yonks. but everyone wants those flats so the only ones that haven't been totally 'exposed brick and aga' fied are still out in limehouse and stratford and such.
anyway, now that we're installed in our ex-l.a. little place with the bengalis, i'm quite happy we ended up where we did. it's solid and heats up in about 45 seconds. i'm so over drafty, i really am.

I'm not sure that flat is worth what you're paying para..
If it was inclusive, maybe. But for a 1 bed of that size, I think you should have been looking at about 200 less.
- paraselene0
erm... maybe in gipsy hill...
;)
- ********0
In Gipsy Hill it would be £600 - not £800 as I'm suggesting.
- Nairn0
From squatting to £800 a month in rent, Para?! You're either doing very well for yourself or are perilously fixated on central London.
Christ that's a lot of moolah for an ex-LA house - say it ain't so...
- paraselene0
lol it's actually £1000!
and it's my better half who was the squatter and is also unusually tight. so if he thinks it's a steal, it's a steal.
