Hi whats a cheap price for a room in a shared house in London. And wheres cheap to live
- skt0
£450 - Hackney (clapton). Don't sell crack or start a pirate radio station and you are laughing.

ditto to what skt says. i am worried the cheap prices won't last for too much longer in hackney though. the yuppies are moving in.

(Mar 2 07, 08:45)no need to worry, the steady influx of polish wastrels is keeping the yuppies away.

you could get something for £350 in brixton, but then you'd live in brixton...
i'm amazed how cheap our place in spitalfields is, to be honest. £500 per person.
mind you look out for council tax and bills, they'll easily add another £100-150 onto your monthly expenses.

I used to live in Chiswick for £300.. the landlady was 93 and hadn't raised it for years. then she died and all went to her cat and I had to move :(
probably a good thing. prefer east over west any day.

Hackney council, I think, is the most expensive council tax in briton. But it's worth it. They pick your bins up, sometimes as much as once a week.

We just got a new blue bin for our teabags.. it's very exciting living in Hackney.

Like your work by the way maaike..
website is a pain in the hoop to use though.

thanks skt. i like our site nav but in terms of accessibility.. it's not as functional as i like it to be. i am trying to think of something clever to improve it.

hey maaike, i like the navigation, but maybe you could enhance it by indicating where a new description starts (visible to the 'naked' eye)
- bolus0
and on topic, i know nothing about renting in london, honest, never done it, really
- Maaike0
good idea bolus.
i used to have the 'titles' in a different colour but it just ended up looking like coloured blops because the micro text is so small. need to think of something better.
- bolus0
a small dot in front of the title perhaps

Cheap?. Zone 3 and out.
'Central' - East (Hackney), Norf (Finsbury Park), dunno 'bout Souf.
If you want cheap, you'll have to share with people you don't know - if you do, you can get pretty cheap rents ( @ £300 a month) and you can dig through Loot and Post Offices to find them.
I for one wouldn't want to share with people I don't know, what with all my computer equipment etc
If you want your own 1-bed place, it'll cost you. I've recently given up on the idea of a live/work 1-bed rent for me as it was going to be around £600 (exc. bills etc), so I'm continuing to share with one of my current housemates (and we might have just found ourselves a doozie of a place, just up the road off'a Holloway - it's got higgledy-piggledy floors a wee roof terrace! *fingers crossed*)

I don't know if it does flatshares, but this website (which Vespa [I think] posted a few months back) is bloody excellent..
