outdoor banners

am designing some large format banners for a project i'm working on in san francisco. wondering if you all have seen some cleaver or well made banners in yout travels around the internets. any advice would be appreciated....i've never done this type of project before.

Two come to mind although I don't have links.
1. On Sunset Blvd there is an office that has a banner covering the entire western side of the building. Right now there is an ad for some alcohol company and the image is like a breakout view of the offices inside with people in t hem partying and drinking.
2. Saw somewhere these pole banners (small banners on either side of a light post) with strippers on them. The real-life pole is basically used as a stripper pole with girls' arms and legs around it and whatnot.

i think at 300dpi scale is .5" = 1' - but that may be wrong...
