This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
Verify that you have addressed this message correctly. Check your SMTP server settings in Mail Preferences and verify any advanced settings with your system administrator.

Have you checked your password?
Try repairing permissions.
Are you connected to teh internets?
Are the tubes full?
Have we figured out how to get the tubes on those trucks?
Am I taking this to far?
Am I going to be late for dinner?
The answer to some of these is 'yes'.

It's probably your host's fault. It happens to me every now and then, so I just leave Mail open and at some point it'll send.

it's done that to me before.
it usually corrects itself when i restart either the program or my computer.

How many accounts do you have in Mail? I've had that happen when I have two accounts, but works fine when I have 3, 4 or 5.

Apple Mail caused us all sorts of problems at my agency... We thought the server was playing up, we had the IT guy pulling his hair out trying all sorts of things and nothing helped... and it turned out to be the Mail on our Mac's! So we now have to use this online Microsoft Outlook thing to get our emails which is rubbish!

This might sound silly, but have you checked that your recipent email address is valid/correct.
Just in case you've mananed to half type the address or summit.

We have had very serious issues with the mail server this week...
Finnally a f... virus is the responsible of those.
Talk with your hosting provider.
If viruses are not the problem, check if a spammer is blocking your mail accounts.
wish help you

this often is the case - if you have changed networks or are at a different location to usual - it may require you to simply send through the SMTP server of the network that you are on. When I'm at work, I use smtp.optusnet.com.au when I'm at home I use smtp.idx.net.au - that is the only difference in the Thunderbird that I need to make.
Obviously I don't know your circumstances but that might help someone along the line. :)
