Time and a half or double time?

I wish I wasn't salary, and had time for freelancing again, however, I always felt personally as follows:
Overtime: Time and a Half.
Weekend: Double Time.

Sorry falvorful but I disagree...
The client will pay you what they say they will pay you...
You tell them you want double time, theyll probably go somewhere else for cheaper.
Decide it the job is worth doing...
The reward is simple... A FANTASTIC portfolio piece that you can show to prospective clients who basically have more budget...
All of my clients are charged different rates... Some pay less, some pay more...
Hope that helps

I worked over thanksgiving last year on a project, and charged more than double.

And that client keeps sending me work.

From a freelancer perspective:
Time and a half for weekend. Double time for overnight/proj's with less than 24 hr notice (aka rush fee).
That's if you're really good at what you do and you're not charging a lot already. ie. If your normal rate is 100 p/h, I doubt you can charge 200 p/h. But if your rate is 50 p/h then you can def charge 100 p/h easily. You just need to find that threshold with that particular client really. There may be a lot of people or competition who would do both at a normal rate, who aren't as good but can still do a decent job.
If you don't have a problem getting work, then charge the above. If you don't have a lot of work, then you should get whatever you can. This is something you should def let the client know up front, the first time you work with them.
