I've had my PC for a while now and its on its last legs. I've been thinking of getting a Mac and have been for sometime now.
I'm not into the whole Mac V PC bullshit because they both have there problems and none of them are perfect.
So, the options? Well, choice a) build a PC to my specifications and get more for my cash or b) buy a Mac for more money, have more stability, but not that much.
I need the computer pretty soon, its a tough call.
Cheers

If anyone knows where you get good Mac deals in Glasgow area or online (UK), that would be a great help.
Cheers,
Out.

I would just consider what software you have at this point. If all your software is PC based that's an additional cost on top of the Mac.

What's it for? Do you have experience with OSX? I am quite a fresh convert from Windows (something like half a year) and I still can't say I love any of them. Good thing about the mac is dual-boot versatility, Windows virtualisation and so on. I can test sites in safari now without the need to bug other people or own two computers.
Go to apple online refurb store for good prices, the UK one seems to be nicely stocked.

Thanks for the reply's guys. I freelance from the house and use all the usual suspects i.e. photoshop, flash, etc. I was looking at the intel imac, but thats limited to only 3gb of ram and with next gen operating systems coming that memory will be eaten up like a fat man on macdonalds.
The last time i used a Mac was the G4, which i liked. Also, i think (but not sure) a new G5 is coming out with blu-ray drive, etc.
It's a lot of money so i want to make sure i get the right/best system. Plus if sell the system years down the line, i'll get something (but not a lot) back for the Mac, but not the PC.

mac is extremely solid in my opinion. I haven't had a problem in 6 years that i couldn't fix easily.
right now I use a Imac g5 w/ isight. its a dream. no road blocks what so ever.
+ macs can run windows on them now. So really what seems to be the concern is the $$$$. right? man its worth it. I got mine used (only 3 months) for $1100

Get the Mac. Stop farting around with inferior crap that wastes your time.

I bet apple is cringing right now.

Get a Mac and install bootcamp... you have nothing to fear.

get a iMac, the 24" look fine if you can afford it. About getting macs from Glasgow, there's Scotsys but I wouldn't recommend them. Just get one form the apple site. When I got mine the imacs reduced in price a short time after, I was ready for a long telephone argument but I got my cash back instantly. yeah, go for it.

a lineup of mac pros just arrived in the uk/ireland online refurb store, in case someone's looking for one..

Definitely mac!
There is an Apple shop in Glasgow, near St George's underground. Cant remember the name but i'll find out for you...

Hey does anyone know if I buy a laptop tomorrow and they release a new version in March can I return it? My friend did this the week before the new Nanos came out with his plastic black one. I REALLY need to get this but I'm going to go postal if the upgrade in a week or 2.

Well.. leopard is rumoured to be launched in March and this means hardware upgrades too.
It will hurt less if you buy from the refurb store :)
