Iv just downloaded MAMP to start learning PHP. If i want to test directly onto my Domain aswell as locally do I just copy the contents of the entire MAMP folder to my URL????
This is to test things like email feedback forms and php calendars etc....
May sounds like a stupid question but want to try and get up and running asap.
cheers

If MAMP is anything like XAMPP, then probably. The only thing you may need to do is edit config files for complicated sites - ie. any files containing referral paths - workpaths / absolute paths / http server whatever you want to call 'em.
Any php sites using DBs will obviously need to have their Database Host, Username & Password variables amended too.
What I do is keep two folders of config files (local & remote) in my local working folder, then backup as and when relevant.

er.. hold on.
in MAMP, you should have a folder which contains all your sites (in XAMPP it's just 'htdocs'.
the copy of THAT folder should mimic the root of your webserver - so NO, you DON'T 'copy the contents of the entire MAMP folder' to your webserver!!

Morning Nairn, I gotcha, just the htdoc folder.
I know you can change your php.ini file locally, but is there any way i can change the remote ini file?
This is not normally in htdocs. And doesn't exist on my FTP.
The reason I ask is because I uploaded a PDP script to test a form mailer and the Email doesn't work :-( iv since seen that some setting need to be changed on the server with regard to Php.ini but the only file i can change is my local one in Mamp. Hope that makes sense!!!

Ok, I'm no PHP expert, but I'm pretty sure that you don't want to be fiddling with your php.ini file if you're just starting out.
That side of things is more down to your web provider and which php/apache/etc set up they have.
In my experience, mailer script functionality can be limited to prevent abuse - so if there's nothing in your mailer script FAQ that sounds out of the ordinary, I'd contact your provider and see what they say.
