If MAMP is anything like XAMPP, then probably. The only thing you may need to do is edit config files for complicated sites - ie. any files containing referral paths - workpaths / absolute paths / http server whatever you want to call 'em.
Any php sites using DBs will obviously need to have their Database Host, Username & Password variables amended too.
What I do is keep two folders of config files (local & remote) in my local working folder, then backup as and when relevant.
