haha WOW this wont pass.
id say it's your own fault if youre listening to your ipod/talking on your cell and crossing the road without paying attention.

you missed 4 key words
"while crossing the street"
a daft idea for an already stupid world
- 5timuli0
Hahaha, that's fucking ridiculous! Get a grip, grandad.

awesome, i feel so disconnected from others around me. this could be a good chance to get to know people in this wonderful city a little better. and who knows, maybe it will bring back the long lost art of conversation.

Welcome to the Nanny-State. We'll all feel so warm and protected and nothing will ever hurt us ever or ever because big mean old Nanny will protect us form all the pointy objects and the brown middle eastern people! Hey you! Put that cigarette out!!*
*This post brought to you by the US Army. As an American Citizen, the Army cheerfully reminds you that it is your privilege to join our fine organization and go overseas to wreck mayhem and wanton destruction on other nations, but while you are in New York..shush!

"The proposed ban follows two recent pedestrian deaths in Kruger's district where at least one is said to be the result of a person "listening to his iPod."
Gee, maybe the pedestrian deaths had more to do with the fact they were hit by a multi-ton moving vehicle of metal driven by somebody probably listening to a radio or talking to someone else in the car...

i wonder what track was the guy that got run over was listening to
sorry my english is off today
- Jaline0
haha, WTF?
If you do anything stupid while crossing the street or driving it's your own damn fault.
That's why I actually look both ways before I cross the street when I'm listening to music (and also when jaywalking, of course)

so because a few people have died THIS YEAR ALREADY! in car accidents, should we ban driving altogether if youre a person?

------BlueDork...
... but this has to be one of the dumbest things you've said in a while...
... how the hell do you connect a possible NY ban on ipod/cell phone usage to THE MILITARY?
dude... really.. you're reaching... and you're gonna fall.

You have to think beyond the victim. I wouldn't be thrilled to run someone over with my car because they were careless. It's a law to prevent accidents.
You shouldn't be walking around with headphones and you shouldn't answer your cellphone while driving. I agree with that law.
- CALLES0
so they are actually serious about this shit!

It's amazing how the sony walkman survived for decades without causing this much trouble. It was called a walkman for fuck's sake.

hahaha dobs!
Tis true, tis true.
Fucking moes.
I usually walk around with one headphone in, and one headphone out though.

Also this is just proposéd at this point, nothing has happened to bar people listening to music, or talking on their phones in public yet (even if it is just crossing the street, this is ludicrous).
- Jaline0
True, dobs.
It's probably because everyone's consuming more while also being constantly distracted.
- moldero0
free country my ass.
