after fx gurus

I'm running after fx on a pc laptop with an intel core duo 1.66 gigs with 1 gig of ram and a ati mobility radeo x1400 512 mb ram, xp and want to know how to set stuff up to run best.
what should i do?

up the ram..
the graphics card shoudl do for starting...
i'm a macpro, dual 2.66ghz
with 4 gigs of ram and a radeon X1900 card..that does the job...

damn son! not sure if there is a best solution on a laptop. i mean the video ram is pretty low no matter what. i actually have never run after on my laptop though..so i guess my info is kinda useless :|
i'd be curious though to see if there is actually a good setup.

btw after effects runs still well on my G4 powerbook with 1.5 gigs of ram with a ATY,RV360M11 as graphics card...

i hear the ram thing, that would be easy...i've also heard of 'proxy settings' and other types of things...know anything?

keep your previews at a low res, and try not to work with your layers set to fine. get your motion down and then check it at high quality. i haven't messed with proxies; the mac pros are uber-quick:)
