What are your thoughts on the Zune logo? Does anyone like it?
Just doing some research on big MP3-player brands...
Thanks!
- gramme0
it neither offends nor excites me.

Why in a Google image search for this does a picture of Frodo Baggins come up?
- Mimio0
It's appropriate.

too par-for-the-course for such a "hip" and groundbreaking product.
that being said, i think it succeeds in reflecting what the zune actually is, and in that case, it looks like a logo that 15-20 people from 7-8 different departments in about 3-4 different companies decided was right for the demographic.

It does nutin for me

HAHAHA! So true.

I find the logo looks incomplete or unpolished. Like it's still a mockup .

Not about the logo, but their advertising.
There was an ad in a subway tunnel in Chicago, probably other places as well, of course, that said:
Zune
Music the way it was meant to be
--
Uh, the way it was meant to be what? Heard??????So stupid, such an advertising failure. They've sold, what, maybe 100 Zunes nationwide?
Sorry Microsoft, ipod owns you.

I'd hit it.

'tis brown. I want no brown gear. It looks a bit like an oversized Werther's Original.
Plus I don't live in Cuba or Jamaica, so 'welcome to the social' sounds a bit foreign and unfinished to me. Like 'I need to borrow a scissor'.

- ETM0
'Social' would imply that you are not the only Zune owner without a 1000km radius.
Even Bill Gates doesn't seem behind the Zune... he hasn't been very supportive of it. That's what happenes when your only the Chairman now.
- ETM0
err... that was supposed to be
"not the only Zune owner WITHIN a 1000km radius. "

i dont understand why they needed a logo anyways. where's ipod's logo? huh?
crap logo for a crap product.
where's that video of the redesign of an ipod packaging for msoft?
- Mimio0
Apple already took the minimal route, so they need to be distinguished. The lattice structure(radio tower) of the logo kind of helps people remember their core feature ...wi-fi.

i only clicked jalines first link to view the logo.
the logo is a box with no sides incapable of "containing" anything. based on that and the purpose of the product, it's a bad logo.

I think you give them too much credit. It looks like the tried to incorporate several letter 'Z's to create a shape...

(Feb 2 07, 11:18)Doesn't change that it is not very good. Besides, it's MS that makes the final call on what was proposed.
