are there any tasteful, totally configurable xml gallery/portfolio templates that don't have all this 2A looking bullshit or stupid little thumbnail/dashboard bullshit attached to them? Is there some law I don't know about that states that this must always be the case?

I have simpleviewer pro, slideshow pro and monoslideshow and not one of them will do what I want: load a shitload of thumbnails or numbered buttons, each representing groups of work, each of which will load another bunch of thumbnails or buttonsfor that individual group of work

if you do find one that does what your describing please post it. I've looking for something as well. Currently using Slideshow Pro....its okay....

it always looks like slideshow pro... doesn't let you move stuff where you want it , place thumbnails in rows/columns, above the loaded images, etc. Monoslideshow is pretty good, but you can't make the gallery thumbnails stay visible, there are no thumbnail captions and it disables buttons in loaded swf files

where is all the links to the crappy versions??
i seen once there a was rotarty style phone that you clicked on a number and the dial moved to the pic, when you clicked off it rolled back around like the old phones used to.

they should make more expensive, more configurable, less flashy versions with simple rollover indicators, loaders and simple alpha tweens--I'd gladly pay hundreds of dollars for that...
and while we're at it, somebody should adapt Hoss Gofford's "no flash scrollbar" technique to size browser scrollbars for different sized dynamically loaded flash content. I would also gladly pay for that

so you can't move around the thumbnails in simpleviewer pro?

I think you can... my question is whether I can use the simpleviewer interface to load additional functioning simpleviewer .swfs (each with its own set of thumbnails) instead of jpegs. Also, I don't think you can have captions on the thumbnail rollovers
