I am pitching a proposal to a pretty big company this friday and I need to go in there with an estimate.

The project is a full web presence for a fairly big food importing company in Toronto, Canada who owns 3 smaller food companies. The company is very well off and I know they have money.

I'd basically be soloing the project and I have the ability to do so, but because I'd be working on it alone it would probably take about 3 months to complete.

    1. Is 3 months too long for a huge website with about 8-10 sections with subpages, a database containing about 2000 products and their corresponding pages?

    2. What is a fair amount (in canadian dollars) to ask for this site? For example, is $18000 too much, not enough, or just right?

This will be my first project for a high profile company rather than just coffee houses or small firms, so I need people with a lot of experience to fill me in on what they'd put on an estimate.

furthermore, what would you photographers charge to shoot the photos of said 2000 products? camera is my own, mobile studio and lighting is my own, too. Price per photo?

for the photography–you'll want to get some quotes from the photographers you have in mind, right? Otherwise you might underbid yourself...

dunno about canadian dollaz, detail all of what you're going to do for them...

    !!list all deliverables!!

Be sure to be confident enough and at the same time do not get tied to anything in the discussion, only in the contract.

estimate your time accurately, the cost of others who you will need to pay and add 25% to cover scope creep.

Also if you're up front about tying scope creep to a minimum and you swallowing the first $100 of costs yourself you should be good.

seems fairly low for 2000 products that need photography, if you hire even a decent photographer they are gonna come in at a good bit of money, my guess would be near 7-8k for that much work.
i'd go higher as in 25k
do yourself a favor an higher a DB person to help.

dont worry about price. you are under cutting everyone since most of them site will cost around 90-250k for decent webshop

    dont forget warranty and maintenance.

product shot will be the hardest dont get photographer who has done some good work. get a student from OCAD or somewhere and rent the photo equipment. of course shoot digital and get the images retouched by some photoshopper. thats good enough

also have that ability shoot setting constant for future updates

    what else..

i would bid that just for the graphic representation of the sites flow, that many pages, that many sections is going to need to be similar in appearance and flow but different enough to separate the sections

maybe i don't understand canadian dollars, but i would charge more if both design and implementation are on your plate
