Just out of curiosity what would it take to get a TV hooked up with my computer?
I am on a mac... do they make TVs with computer ports nowadays? I am waaay out of the TV loop. Haven't had one in 4 years and I figured since I am doing some more video work I should probably get one.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I'd like to be able to use this with After Effects so I can preview how it would look on a TV.
Would I need some sort of box? I see on apples website you can get an adapter that plugs into a monitor slot but I don't want that. I want to be able to edit and see how it looks on the TV as I edit.
Thanks!

you should be able to hook it up so that you can see your computer on your tv.
I'm no expert in these things tho

according to a tech program on the am station everything you need to connect your computer to the television is already there. perhaps call radio shack for further consult.

Cool thanks! I will swing by Best Buy later today and get the scoop!

for a more permanent setup you should get an extra video card so that you can have your timelines etc on your higher res computer monitor but can check your video output on a telly monitor to preview what it does to reds and high contrast designs etc.

Vespa thank you! That is what I am looking for. Ok I can do that. So I need another video card! That way I can buy the converter and just use that video card for TV.
Damn equipment is crazy. What kind of video card do you recommend for just a TV?
- JoshClancy0
ah dope looks like I can buy a video card with SVIDEO built right into it and that way I can hook the TV straight up to it with no adapter.
Thanks again!
To Depressed Buy I go!

if you buy it get the 9 pin s video as it has audio too, the six pin only sends video
- JoshClancy0
Thanks Undo! That was a good piece of information.
Any other advice?

if you're using aftereffects get one that supports OpenGL

just one more bit .. stop trying to pretend you're using this for work. we all know you're wanting to bolster your self image by projecting your personal website onto tv
your mom might be tricked but otherwise it's a vain attempt

Thanks Vespa. Big help!
Also Salisae if you ask me bolstering your self image is nothing but work. =p

I watch videos from my laptop to my tv, both are widescreen but the laptop screen provides a wider output than the telly even at 16:9 so i have to lose a bit either side. now im pretty much a novice at this and someone with experience will probably tell me theres a tick box that needs ticking. anyways it would annoy me if i had to work with that.

Man... so I just went and bought a new GeForce 7800 and I am pretty sure there is no way to hook this guy up to my power supply...
I am using a Mac Pro does anyone have any advice? Tried calling Mac support dude couldn't help and nVidia 's support is closed on Sundays.
Please help!
