your title does not match your post and it's easier to answer the title...1998

final cut

well how's this for a bit of trivia?
In late 2001, the studio motion picture "The Rules of Attraction" was edited on beta versions of FCP 3, proving to the film industry that successful 3:2 pulldown matchback to 24fps could be achieved with a consumer off-the-shelf product."

that list goes on

answer the mans question somebody, please. 1 poster is an unreliable cross section.
(though I suspect he's right, I also get the feeling choosing FCPro on Macs leads to other issues such as cost of system. I'm fairly certain FCP doesn't have HDV support yet, but uses 3rd party sound production software better. swings and roundabouts))

I am a professional editor and I use AVID and FINAL CUT. I would recommend using FINAL CUT as it is cheap as chips and does loads of things, unfortunatly it also has major stability issues when you are doing intensive edits with many built in and 3rd party products. I also would point out that a "cut is a cut" so no editing program can actually do simple editing better than another. Have a look at AVID DV PRO as well, I would have to say it is a very robust system and the news cutter and trim feature outperforms final cut supremely.

(just so you know, choss, I may wish to nip your head severely on this issue in the coming months :) )

Final cut is tres good at HDV, I have performed many many HDV projects with this system.

It's cool Kelpie I can meet you sometime if you like and we can have a master class :D
- kelpie0
cool - just read a thing earlier saying it didn't, probably old as the hills, god damn this interweb :D
- chossy0
Apple may as you said not give adequate support but Final Cut does give adequate results in HDV.

i assumed the linked info above regarding FC's use in the professional industry kind of stood for itself?
maybe i'm supposed to just say "uhh Finul Kut is the besest, duh-huh"
- CyBrain0
Correct me if I'm wrong.
You can't use Premiere on the Mac and you can't use Final Cut on a PC.
That probably is enough to answer his question.

cheers choss :D I'll get through to the burg sometime soon (yeah yeah, heard it all before ;) and we can have a natter about it...

FC has been capable of HD editing since version 3.0

cunts. what are they on about?? how old is it, I notice they mention Prem 1.5, I take it this is fuckin 5 years old or something - I hate undated articles ;)
- version30
that camera (HVR-Z1U) was released on the market late 2004 and still retails for about 5-6K US so the article can't be but a couple years old
- version30
i'd say the article is from 2004, i was using PP1.5 when i was in sf, made quick work of editing, the shortcut keys were intuitive and not system intensive

cool, makes sense then, I was a bit 'mmm, wtf?' about that...
